The coexistence of Holi and Ramadan is not new in India; both festivals have been celebrated together for a long time and have been symbols of our unity in diversity. However, this time, extremist Hindutva forces, emboldened by BJP-led governments’ connivance, are working to disrupt this harmony. Tensions have escalated in states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar due to hate speeches by BJP leaders.

The Narendra Modi-led Union government and the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government have not only failed to curb but also acted in a manner to strengthen those spreading hate. The covering up mosques with tarpaulin in Uttar Pradesh has tarnished the secular credentials of India.

The AIKS strongly condemns the increasing religious polarization and the deliberate spread of communal hatred among people. It demands immediate steps to eradicate this hatred and restore communal harmony.

In India, festivals of all religions have always been celebrated with joy. However, in recent times, every festival has been used to incite religious sentiments and create an atmosphere of communal tension. The principles born out of India’s freedom struggle, which are also enshrined in our Constitution, advocate equal respect for all religions and the promotion of mutual brotherhood. Communal extremist forces, backed by BJP governments and the fascist Sangh Parivar aim to create a situation like Manipur in all states. BJP leaders are continuously making provocative and hateful statements, creating an atmosphere of fear among minority communities. This is a conspiracy to destroy the secular fabric and disturb peace.

The AIKS demands immediate steps to end this communal frenzy and tension. It also requests the Supreme Court to take suo moto cognizance and issue orders to protect secularism and communal harmony. AIKS will unite all social and political organizations to launch a movement against communal fascist forces. The AIKS appeals to all farmers in the country to resist communal fascist forces and preserve peace.
